There were 2,718 Pennsylvania residents who died of influenza and pneumonia in 2017, a 9.1 percent increase over the previous year, according to data obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics.

In 2016, 2,491 Pennsylvania residents died of influenza and pneumonia.
