A resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Maurice Mosely Jr., has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearms violations. This sentence will be followed by eight years of federal supervised release, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

United States District Judge Robert J. Colville handed down the sentence to Mosely, aged 44. The court was informed that Mosely’s illegal activities were investigated by federal, state, and local law enforcement under the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program in Beaver County. It was found that Mosely distributed controlled substances from his residence in Ambridge and his girlfriend’s home in Aliquippa.

On July 21, 2021, search warrants were executed at both locations. At Mosely’s residence, a loaded stolen handgun was found in the kitchen, with additional ammunition located in the master bedroom and garage. As a convicted felon previously charged with four felony drug trafficking crimes, Mosely is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. During a search at his girlfriend’s residence where he was present, crack cocaine and bulk U.S. currency were seized from Mosely personally. Additional quantities of crack, methamphetamine, cocaine, digital scales, an owe sheet, and approximately $4,000 in cash were also confiscated.

In August 2021, during a traffic stop in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, officers observed signs of impairment from Mosely who attempted to hide a bag under the driver’s seat. A subsequent search led to the discovery of crack cocaine and more bulk currency.

Another incident occurred in September 2021 when law enforcement responded to a fight outside a bar in Beaver Falls. Surveillance footage captured Mosely reaching for his waist before discarding an item behind a cigarette machine inside the bar which later turned out to be a loaded handgun.

Before sentencing Mosely, Judge Colville highlighted the gravity of his offenses and the threat he posed to public safety.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised various law enforcement agencies including Pennsylvania State Police and others for their roles in this investigation leading to Mosely’s prosecution.
