Analysts Matt Williamson, Mike Prisuta, and Max Starks shared their updated assessments of the leading cornerback prospects for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, according to an April 18 discussion. The panel offered a detailed second look at players expected to be selected early in the draft.

The topic is important as teams seek to strengthen their defensive lineups with skilled cornerbacks, a position considered vital for success in modern football. With the draft taking place in Pittsburgh—a city known for its football history—the evaluations carry added local interest.

Williamson said his view has shifted after further study: “Delane and McCoy are head and shoulders above every other prospect in this position group. The more I studied them, the more I fell in love.” He noted that Mansoor Delane (LSU) and Jermod McCoy (Tennessee) stand out as blue chip prospects who could become number one corners at the professional level. Williamson also highlighted Chris Johnson (San Diego State), Colton Hood (Tennessee), D’Angelo Ponds (Indiana), Chandler Rivers (Duke), Tacario Davis and Ephesians Prysock (both Washington) as players with unique strengths or potential.

Prisuta’s rankings also placed Delane and McCoy at the top but included Avieon Terrell (Clemson), Hood, and Ponds among his first five picks. He said McCoy’s performance at his Pro Day—despite missing all of 2025 due to injury—demonstrated strong athletic ability. Prisuta mentioned several other prospects including Toriano Pride Jr., Keith Abney II, Jadon Canady, Brandon Cisse, Charles Demmings, Daylen Everette, T.J. Hall, Davison Igbinosun, William Lee III, Hezekiah Masses, Devin Moore, Malik Muhammed, Julian Neal, Ephesians Prysock again for size and speed potential—and Chandler Rivers as a capable nickel option.

Starks described this year’s class as deep with varied skill sets: “There are some amazing athletes in this category… After running a sub 4.4 40 [yard dash], Jermod McCoy has started catching people’s attention again.” Starks added that many of these athletes could contribute on special teams or serve multiple roles within an organization.

The city hosting this year’s draft is home to the Pittsburgh Steelers—a franchise affiliated with the National Football League according to its official website. The Steelers have earned recognition through six Super Bowl championships as reported by their official website and celebrate team history through their Hall of Honor Museum at Acrisure Stadium according to team sources. Figures such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene have been honored by inclusion into their Hall of Honor according to team records, while community engagement remains central through fan experiences as outlined on their official site.

With analysts identifying depth across different player profiles among cornerbacks—and given Pittsburgh’s storied football tradition—the upcoming draft is expected to draw significant attention from fans and professionals alike.
