Michael Anderson hit two home runs to help the Penn State baseball team secure a 9-7 victory over Bucknell on April 21 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Nittany Lions improved their season record to 12-26, while Bucknell fell to 21-19.
The game drew a season-high crowd of 4,082 fans during Dollar Dog Night, with attendees consuming a record-setting total of 9,319 hot dogs. Since the start of Dollar Dog Nights in 2023, Penn State fans have eaten nearly 95,000 hot dogs over eighteen events. The team has won thirteen out of eighteen games held on these promotional nights.
On the field, Jayden Davis started strong for Penn State with a leadoff home run in the first inning. Anderson followed up with a two-run homer in the fourth and added another solo shot in the eighth inning. His performance moved him into second place for most single-season home runs in Penn State history with eighteen homers.
Pitcher Mason Horwat started for the Nittany Lions and threw three shutout innings, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out three batters. Several other pitchers contributed throughout the game, including Ben DeMell who earned a save by pitching one and one-third innings.
Bucknell scored seven runs on eight hits during the game. Ryan Facinelli and Andrew Swenson each drove in two runs for Bucknell. Michael Trommer had two hits and scored once.
Penn State will next travel to face No. 19 Oregon from April 24 to April 26 for a three-game Big Ten series.
