A Beaver Falls resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for allegedly violating federal firearms law, according to an announcement from First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
The indictment charges Jayvon Turner, 23, as the sole defendant. According to the document, Turner is accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition on or about August 16, 2025, after previously being convicted of a felony related to a state robbery charge. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.
If convicted, Turner faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence would depend on the seriousness of the offense and Turner’s prior criminal history under federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that coordinates efforts among various levels of law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department of Justice launched an updated violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021, focusing on building trust in communities, supporting prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
“An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
