Rep. Brendan Boyle, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 2nd district since 2015, posted a series of statements on January 28, 2026, addressing political violence and recent economic policies under former President Donald Trump.

In an early morning post, Boyle commented on an incident involving Rep. Ilhan Omar: “I’m relieved that @Ilhan was unhurt by this shameful attack. Those who constantly smear her must know that their words have consequences. Political violence in the Trump Era is out of control and is a threat to our democracy.” (January 28, 2026)

Later the same day, Boyle criticized Trump’s economic decisions: “Trump had all year to rein in costs. Instead, he’s imposed massive new tariff taxes on Americans and attacked the Fed for not bending to his will. Trump has nobody to blame but himself for his bad economy.” (January 28, 2026)

In another post that afternoon, Boyle questioned Trump’s understanding of economic issues: “President Trump may have been telling the truth when he said he’d never heard the word “affordability” until a few months ago. If you’re a billionaire who’s been handed everything, you don’t have to think about what things cost.” (January 28, 2026)

Brendan Boyle has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 2nd District since replacing Allyson Schwartz in 2015 and previously held office in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015. Born in Philadelphia in 1977 and currently residing there, Boyle graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
