A bridge replacement project is scheduled to commence next week on Cummings Creek Road in Farmington Township, Tioga County. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will close Cummings Creek Road between Route 249 and Route 49 starting Wednesday, July 2, 2025. This closure is necessary for the removal of the existing bridge at the intersection with Elkhorn Road.

The project involves removing the current bridge, installing a new box culvert, reconstructing the roadway, and adding guide rails, paving, and line painting. A detour will be set up using Route 249, Losey Creek Road, and Route 49. Local traffic will still have access to properties on either side of the bridge work.

The current single-span steel I-beam bridge was built in 1924 and rehabilitated in 1983. It will be replaced with a concrete box culvert. The project is expected to conclude in September, weather permitting.

Motorists can monitor road conditions through www.511PA.com, which offers traffic delay warnings and other information. The service is available online or via a smartphone app for iPhone and Android devices.
