Butler County Community College has received a $347,834 state grant to expand access to dual-credit programs for high school students, Rep. Marci Mustello announced on Apr. 24.
The funding aims to help more high school students earn college credits while still in school, making higher education more accessible and reducing costs for families. Dual-credit courses allow students to meet high school requirements and get a head start on college studies at the same time.
“Preparing students for success is critical to the future of our communities and our economy,” Mustello said. “This grant for BC3 will expand real-world opportunities for our region’s students, equipping them with practical skills, early college credits and a clearer path forward, all while reducing the financial burden on families. Programs like this ensure students graduate ready to contribute, compete and succeed in today’s workforce.”
The PA Dual Credit Innovation Grant was created by the General Assembly in 2024 and is funded through appropriations from the General Fund approved by lawmakers. The new funds are expected to increase Butler County Community College’s capacity for offering these courses.
Mustello advocates for improving quality of life, education initiatives, and addressing issues such as the opioid crisis and animal cruelty according to the official website. She is affiliated with the Republican party and has worked with U.S. Representative Mike Kelly according to her official biography. Her priorities include promoting job creation, reforming taxes, cutting government spending, supporting education efforts, and maintaining fiscal responsibility as outlined online.

Drawing from her background in federal legislative offices as well as community service work in western Pennsylvania the official website reports, Mustello continues efforts focused on local needs.
