Catholic Relief Services announced on April 15 that it will host its annual Mother’s Day Donation Drive this spring, inviting the public to honor mothers and those in motherly roles with charitable gifts.
The event, organized by the CRS Philadelphia Advocacy Chapter, runs through Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10. Donations can be made in honor of mothers, grandmothers, friends, aunts, sisters, cousins or others who hold maternal significance. Catholic Relief Services said it will send a postcard to each person being celebrated when a donation is made.
All proceeds from the drive are designated to support Catholic Relief Services’ global work. The organization said these funds help lift communities out of poverty and provide access to food, water and medicine. The donations also aid local faith-based partners delivering services within their communities.
Catholic Relief Services describes itself as the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. It says its mission is rooted in Gospel teachings and focuses on improving lives through humanitarian programs for poor and vulnerable families.
According to the official website, the Archdiocese of Philedelphia provides outreach through agencies such as Nutritional Development Services and Catholic Social Services for community support. The Archdiocese features the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul as its main worship site according to its official website. It functions as a metropolitan see overseeing suffragan dioceses in Pennsylvania according to its official website.
The Archdiocese serves more than 1.3 million Catholics across its area according to its official website and works toward spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ while assisting others through charitable efforts focused on justice according to its official website. Nelson Pérez has served as the tenth archbishop since his installation in 2020 according to its official website.
