Rep. Bud Cook announced on April 29 that two employers in Pennsylvania’s 50th District will receive more than $36 million in grants aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering energy costs, and supporting the region’s industrial economy.
The funding is part of the Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE PA) program. The program awarded over $267 million to manufacturing projects across the state, with CNX Green Ventures LLC receiving $31.5 million to install special ventilation wells at the Enlow Fork coal mine and Iron Senergy Holding LLC receiving $4.8 million to install a device for capturing coal mine methane.
“We need to continue to grow Pennsylvania’s energy sector and pursue policies that unleash its full potential,” Cook said. “Our communities in the 50th District have the resources and the workforce to lead the way. By investing in projects that reduce emissions while supporting the industries that drive our economy, we can create jobs, lower costs for families and strengthen our area’s future.”
Cook represents Greene and Washington counties according to his official website. He leads initiatives such as ‘Come Home, Go Big and Have a Ball’ which aims to attract residents back to southwestern Pennsylvania according to his official website.
He serves as Republican secretary on the Agriculture Committee, chairs the Republican Subcommittee on Marketing within the Tourism Committee, and also sits on committees related to Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Environmental Resources and Energy; as well as Tourism and Economic Development according to his official website. Cook holds more than three decades of experience as a self-employed business owner focused on job creation according to his official website.
Looking ahead, Cook said these investments are intended not only for environmental benefits but also for economic growth by creating jobs and strengthening local industry.
