Penn State women’s basketball announced on May 5 that Cristen Carter, a senior transfer forward, has joined the Lady Lions for the upcoming season. Head coach Tanisha Wright said Carter is the fourth portal addition to the team this offseason.

The addition of Carter brings more experience and depth to Penn State’s roster as the program continues its efforts to strengthen its foundation under Wright’s leadership.

“We are so excited to add Cristen to our roster,” Tanisha Wright said. “Cristen comes with a wealth of experience and an attitude to do whatever needs to be done to be successful. We look forward to Cristen’s leadership as we continue to build a strong foundation for the Lady Lion program.”

Carter played last season at Georgetown University, appearing in 30 games and starting five times. She averaged 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during her junior year, including four double-digit scoring performances. Before Georgetown, she spent two seasons at Butler University where she played in 64 games with 30 starts, averaging 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game over those years.

Her collegiate career totals include participation in 94 contests with averages of 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game along with two double-doubles recorded overall.

Before college, Carter attended Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis where she was named a 2023 Indiana All-Star after averaging nearly nineteen points and thirteen rebounds per game as a senior while also setting her school’s single-season rebounding record.
