Pennsylvania State Senator Tracy Pennycuick announced on April 30 the opening of submissions for her fourth annual Women Veterans Day Commemoration, which honors women who have served in the United States military. The initiative recognizes the service and contributions of women veterans across Pennsylvania, with a ceremony scheduled for June 10 at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.

The event aims to highlight the experiences and sacrifices of women veterans by inviting them to submit their likeness and a personal reflection on “What Service Means to Me.” These submissions will be displayed alongside fellow honorees both at the in-person ceremony and online beginning June 8 at Senator Pennycuick’s website. Pennycuick said, “The Women Veterans Display is a meaningful way to honor the courage, dedication and sacrifice of Pennsylvania’s women who have served in uniform. I am proud to continue this annual tradition and provide a platform to recognize their invaluable contributions to our commonwealth and our nation.”

Pennycuick has been involved in public service through her military career as well as roles on veteran boards, supporting both veterans and law enforcement according to the official website. She served for 26 years in the U.S. Army, including active duty during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, before retiring as a lieutenant colonel according to information from her official biography.

Pennycuick began her military career by enlisting as a combat medic before pursuing higher education at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1987 according to her official profile. She resides with her husband—a fellow U.S. Army veteran—in Harleysville along with their four grown children and two grandchildren according to information provided by her office.

Elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in 2022 after serving previously in the General Assembly, Pennycuick continues efforts that focus on recognizing veterans’ service throughout Pennsylvania according to details shared on her official site.
