The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the arrest of Alexandr Remorenko, a Russian immigrant unlawfully residing in the United States. Remorenko was convicted of multiple sexual and violent offenses involving minors during an enforcement operation in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.

According to DHS, the arrest is part of a nationwide initiative targeting foreign nationals convicted of serious sexual offenses, particularly those involving minors. Remorenko’s criminal record includes charges such as rape, incest, exploitation, and aggravated assault. DHS officials emphasize that individuals like Remorenko are prioritized for removal under current enforcement policies aimed at enhancing community safety. The department’s “Worst of the Worst” database highlights these arrests as part of ongoing transparency measures.

DHS reports that over 15,000 criminal illegal aliens are currently listed on the “Worst of the Worst” database for offenses including sexual assault and child exploitation. Approximately 70% of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests involve individuals charged or convicted of serious crimes. The department maintains that this transparency initiative ensures public awareness about those removed from their neighborhoods, reinforcing accountability and law enforcement effectiveness.

ICE’s 2024 Annual Report indicates 7,800 arrests related to sexual offenses, with 1,200 cases specifically tied to crimes against minors—a 22% increase from 2023. This rise reflects enhanced coordination between ICE and state authorities to identify offenders with histories of sexual violence. DHS attributes this increase to improved data-sharing mechanisms and expanded community reporting initiatives.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., DHS is tasked with protecting the United States from terrorism, border threats, and transnational crime. It oversees components such as ICE, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Under Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership, DHS has prioritized transparency through tools like the “Worst of the Worst” platform to inform Americans about the removal of criminal illegal aliens from their communities.
