A former Duncansville resident has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for her involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking organization. The sentencing took place in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines imposed the sentence on Tonya Settlemyer, aged 40.
The conviction is the result of a six-month Title III wiretap investigation into drug trafficking activities across Blair, Cambria, Centre, and Clearfield counties. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced the sentencing.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that Settlemyer assisted Jason Lynn, who led an Altoona-based drug trafficking organization distributing significant quantities of methamphetamine throughout the Western District of Pennsylvania. Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty represented the government in prosecuting this case.
Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of several agencies involved in the investigation that led to Settlemyer’s prosecution. These included the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Postal Service—Office of Inspector General, United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and Pennsylvania State Police.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at targeting high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations threatening U.S. security through a collaborative approach involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
