A man from East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 11.5 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking and unlawful firearm possession. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Kari Ameen Wheeler, aged 38, received the sentence from United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines. Following his prison term of 138 months, Wheeler will undergo five years of supervised release.

Court records revealed that on August 21, 2024, Wheeler distributed and intended to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Additionally, on August 23, 2024, he was found with two firearms and ammunition despite having a prior felony conviction. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. led the prosecution for this case.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and Cambria County Drug Task Force for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Wheeler successfully.
