A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has admitted to possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine. Shawn Geer, 49, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of violating federal narcotics laws. The plea was entered before United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines.
According to information presented in court, on July 2, 2023, Geer possessed with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine within the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Sentencing is set for March 24, 2026. The offense carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and could result in up to 40 years in prison and a fine as high as $5 million. Sentencing will be determined according to federal guidelines that consider both the severity of the crime and any prior criminal record.
First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced the guilty plea. Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon is prosecuting the case.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police.
