A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on May 4 to 92 months in federal prison and four years of supervised release after being convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced.

The sentencing underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address drug-related offenses in the region. Authorities say such convictions aim to deter similar crimes and maintain public safety.

United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines imposed the sentence on Shawn Geer, age 49. According to information presented in court, Geer possessed with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine on or about July 2, 2023, within the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case for the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police were credited by Rivetti for their work leading up to Geer’s prosecution.

The case highlights continued cooperation between federal and state agencies targeting illegal drug distribution activities.
