Farrell man pleads guilty in federal court to drug and firearm offenses

A Farrell, Pennsylvania resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges involving drug trafficking and firearm possession. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Daniel George, 36, entered his plea before Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak. The crimes occurred on July 7, 2022. George admitted to possessing with intent to distribute at least 28 grams of cocaine base as well as quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. He also admitted to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The statutory penalties for these offenses include a minimum sentence of ten years and up to life imprisonment, along with possible fines totaling $5,250,000. Sentencing will be determined according to federal guidelines that consider the seriousness of the crimes and any previous criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting the case.

The investigation involved the Mercer County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

According to officials, this case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that brings together law enforcement agencies at various levels with local communities to address violent crime and gun violence. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021. The program focuses on fostering trust in communities, supporting organizations that work to prevent violence before it occurs, setting targeted enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
