A Farrell, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm offenses. The announcement was made by First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Daniel George, 37, received his sentence from United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak. George was convicted of two crimes committed on July 7, 2022: possession with intent to distribute at least 28 grams of cocaine base, fentanyl, and cocaine; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Following his prison term, George will be subject to five years of supervised release.
The court was informed that George trafficked fentanyl and cocaine while armed in Farrell, Mercer County in 2022. He engaged in these activities despite previous convictions and periods of incarceration for drug trafficking, firearm violations, and domestic violence offenses. These crimes were also committed at a location where his girlfriend and an infant child lived.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case for the government.
The investigation involved the Mercer County Drug Task Force, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a national initiative that coordinates efforts among law enforcement agencies and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department launched an updated violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021 that emphasizes building trust within communities, supporting prevention-focused organizations, prioritizing targeted enforcement actions, and tracking outcomes.
