The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Apr. 22 that the documentary episode ‘Forging Steel’ will premiere on all team digital and social channels at 7 p.m., providing a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s offseason changes and preparations for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

The documentary comes as Pittsburgh prepares to host what is described as its biggest event ever, with the NFL Draft set to take place outside Acrisure Stadium. The event is expected to draw worldwide attention to the city, known for its football legacy.

‘Forging Steel’ features key moments from the offseason, including the hiring of Coach Mike McCarthy. “To come back as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was surreal,” said McCarthy. “Something that I had not anticipated just where I am in my career. Just a true blessing to be here.” The episode also covers free agency activities and draft preparations from a football perspective.

Dan Rooney, Vice President of Business Development & Strategy for the Steelers, spoke about what hosting means for both team and city: “It’s a special moment, biggest event in Pennsylvania’s history,” said Rooney. “The Steelers are just so excited that Pittsburgh is being showcased to the world to tell our story… There’s so much about Pittsburgh that makes it special. And that story will be on display for the world to see. It’s a chance to tell our history, but also tell the story of Pittsburgh’s future.”

McCarthy highlighted how important this draft is for both team and community: “The Draft is special,” he said. “It’s going to be a special weekend for Pittsburgh and I think it’s great that the world, directed by the National Football League, is going to see Pittsburgh on stage and what football means to Western Pennsylvania… This draft class will play a big impact in the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers.” The franchise has earned recognition through multiple Super Bowl wins and inductions into their Hall of Honor according to their official website.

The organization’s commitment extends beyond football achievements; they have honored figures such as Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene in their Hall of Honor as listed on their official website, contribute through historical celebrations and fan experiences as outlined online, feature artifacts at their Hall of Honor Museum at Acrisure Stadium according to official sources, and are recognized members of the National Football League based on information from their official website.

As anticipation builds ahead of Thursday night’s opening ceremony with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcoming fans worldwide outside Acrisure Stadium, ‘Forging Steel’ aims not only to capture preparation but also highlight why football remains central in both local identity and broader sports culture.
