A former township supervisor in Pennsylvania has been sentenced to prison for tax evasion and bank fraud. Linda Tarlecki, 63, of Aristes, previously served as the supervisor for Conyngham Township in Columbia County from 2006 through 2018.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Tarlecki pleaded guilty in July 2025 before Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann. During her plea hearing, she admitted to misappropriating more than $147,000 from Conyngham Township between 2013 and 2017 by issuing duplicate payroll checks to herself and reimbursing herself for fictitious mileage and supplies. She also failed to pay income taxes on this fraudulent income, resulting in a loss of over $38,000 to the Internal Revenue Service.
“No matter what the source of income, all income is taxable,” said Yury Kruty, Special Agent in Charge at IRS-Criminal Investigation’s Philadelphia Field Office.
Chief Judge Brann sentenced Tarlecki to twelve months and one day in prison. She was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release after her prison term and pay $187,427 in restitution to the United States.
The investigation was conducted by IRS Criminal Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur prosecuted the case.
