Four Penn State men’s lacrosse players have received All-America recognition from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, according to a May 21 announcement. Senior Alex Ross was named to the first team, while senior Jon King earned third team honors. Sophomores Reid Gills and Hunter Aquino were recognized with honorable mention selections.
The awards highlight the performance of these athletes during the season. Ross, who played defense and served as captain, led a defensive unit that ranked eighth nationally in scoring defense by holding opponents to an average of 9.06 goals per game. The team also placed in the top ten for caused turnovers with an average of 9.44 per game.
King was noted as one of the nation’s leading short-stick defensive midfielders, ranking second among his peers in caused turnovers with a total of 18 this season. He also tied for third on the team in groundballs with 38.
Gills achieved consensus honorable mention status and ranks tenth nationally—and second in the Big Ten Conference—in faceoff winning percentage at 61.2 percent, which is the best mark by a Penn State player since Gerard Arceri’s performance in 2018.
Aquino received his national honor after missing several regular season games due to injury; despite not meeting minimum requirements for NCAA database rankings, his points per game average of 3.18 would place him fifth nationally if eligible.
