Harrisburg-Carlisle sees 340,100 nonfarm payroll employees in September

The number of employees on nonfarm payrolls for September in Pennsylvania’s Harrisburg-Carlisle metropolitan statistical area was 340,100, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Pennsylvania reported 5.8 million people employed on nonfarm payrolls during that same time period.

Statistics were compiled from reports from the civilian labor force and unemployment data, both of which heavily relied on household surveys. The data is not seasonally adjusted.

Employment data is gleaned from an establishment survey measures nonfarm employment, hours and earnings by industry. The data is also based on payroll jobs and such factors as where the establishments are located.
