Executive Vice President and General Manager Howie Roseman said on Apr. 19 that the Philadelphia Eagles are finalizing preparations for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, following a productive streak in recent drafts that has helped the team reach two Super Bowls and secure a championship after the 2024 season.

The draft is seen as an important part of building a successful football team, and Roseman said he is focused on repeating effective processes to maintain high performance. “It only matters what you do going forward,” Roseman said. “Anything that we’ve had in place – process, that kind of thing – has to be done again and again and again. So, you’re only as good as your last draft and your last picks, so that’s what we’re trying to do here. We want to make good decisions for these three days and continue to build this football team.”

Roseman emphasized the importance of entering the draft with flexibility gained through free agency moves, allowing selections based on talent rather than immediate needs. “I think what you’re hoping is that you enter the Draft in position to be able to take the best available player in every round,” he said. He also cautioned against making selections solely based on positional needs: “You learn from every decision you make,” Roseman said.

This year’s draft features some older players who were granted extra eligibility due to disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic season of 2021, which adds complexity for teams evaluating prospects. “As we go forward here, there are going to be the challenges of guys transferring in the portal, the whole experience of NIL (Name, Image, Likeness), but for this Draft, that COVID year, we’re going to have some older players to consider,” Roseman said.

The Eagles operate as a professional American football team in Philadelphia and compete in the National Football League according to their official website. The organization began its history in 1933 according to their official website and maintains its base in Philadelphia according to their official website. The team’s influence extends nationally through games, media coverage, merchandise sales according to their official website, and by providing professional football games along with news updates and fan engagement opportunities according to their official website.

Looking ahead at this year’s draft process—and reflecting on recent successes—Roseman highlighted his commitment not just toward maintaining standards but also adapting strategies when necessary: “That is all part of the evaluation process.”
