The Lansdale Borough Police Department has announced the arrest of Jonathan Isaias Avila Arevalo, an undocumented immigrant, in connection with a violent home invasion on Vine Street in Lansdale. This information was shared through a press release.
According to the Lansdale Borough Police Department, officers responded to a burglary report at 2:22 a.m. on July 27, 2025, at a residence located in the 300 block of Vine Street. The department said that the 32-year-old female resident reported being asleep when she awoke to find a male stranger kneeling on her legs in bed, who then assaulted her. The suspect allegedly applied pressure to her neck and placed her in a chokehold. However, the victim managed to break free and call 911, prompting the suspect to flee.
The police department detailed that after the initial incident, officers used the victim’s description to search for the suspect. Later that day, they observed a man matching the description near Wood and Madison Streets and detained him. The suspect was identified as Jonathan Isaias Avila Arevalo and was found with property taken from the victim’s home. He was positively identified by the victim at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that Arevalo is currently unhoused and undocumented, having entered the United States from Guatemala via Texas in 2023. He was arraigned on July 28, 2025, with bail set at $99,000 cash and is now held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The department notes that Arevalo faces charges including aggravated assault, strangulation, burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, and harassment. However, all charges are allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
