Penn State men’s lacrosse player Jack Iannantuono was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, according to a March 31 announcement. This marks his second time receiving this honor during the season and brings Penn State’s total weekly conference awards to 13.
The recognition highlights Iannantuono’s performance in leading Penn State to a 13-6 victory over No. 8 Ohio State. He scored two unassisted goals and provided two assists, contributing significantly to his team’s offense. The match marked the first time this season that Ohio State allowed double-digit goals, despite entering the weekend with the nation’s top-ranked scoring defense. Iannantuono’s four points matched the second-highest individual total surrendered by Ohio State this year.
Penn State currently leads all Big Ten schools in weekly honors, with Johns Hopkins and Ohio State tied for second at seven each, followed by Rutgers with six, Maryland with three, and Michigan with two.
Looking ahead, Penn State will face No. 11 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 4 at noon in its third consecutive ranked conference matchup. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. A win could position Penn State favorably for the regular season conference title race.
