Two Penn State track and field athletes earned first-team All-Big Ten recognition at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, according to a May 18 announcement. Hayley Kitching represented the women’s team, while Allon Clay received the honor on the men’s side.
The achievement highlights individual success for both athletes in their respective events. Recognition as first-team All-Big Ten reflects top performances within the conference.
Kitching, a senior middle-distance runner, achieved her second career outdoor season All-Big Ten status by winning the 800-meter race with a time of 2:01.77. This result placed her well ahead of the next competitor, who finished in 2:03.54. It marks Kitching’s second victory in this event at the Outdoor Championships; she previously won it in 2024.
On the men’s side, Clay secured his own title in the same event by finishing with a time of 1:46.58 in the final after recording a leading preliminary time of 1:45.11. This win marks his second consecutive season claiming both an event victory and first-team All-Big Ten status.
Penn State completed a sweep of this year’s Big Ten Conference titles in both men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor 800-meter events. Kitching won at both indoor and outdoor championships for women, while Handal Roban took home men’s indoor honors just ahead of Clay—who then prevailed outdoors.
