Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs in the Philadelphia Phillies’ 6-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park, according to a May 10 statement. This extended his home run streak to four games and brought his season total to 16, tying him with Aaron Judge for the most in Major League Baseball.
Schwarber’s performance puts him on pace for 63 home runs this season. His current four-game homer streak is the longest by a Phillies player since Trea Turner homered in five straight games from August 28 to September 2, 2023. Last year, Schwarber finished with a career-best of 56 homers after chasing Ryan Howard’s franchise record of 58 set in 2006.
“I feel OK,” Schwarber said. When asked if he felt more than just OK given his recent results, he added: “I feel like there’s obviously been some good results, you know? There’s still some more things that I want to work on and cut out. But obviously, today’s a good result day.”
Brandon Marsh also contributed significantly during Sunday’s game by going four-for-four at bat and now leads Major League Baseball with a .353 batting average. “It’s insane,” Marsh said about Schwarber’s streak. “I don’t want to say it’s to the point where we expect it, but it’s like, ‘Oh, another one. Another one.’ It’s special.” On leading MLB hitters himself Marsh said: “That’s pretty freaking cool… It’s been a lot of fun. Just got to keep going.”
The Phillies have won four consecutive series since appointing Don Mattingly as interim manager on April 28 and have gone ten wins against three losses under his leadership for an overall record of nineteen wins and twenty-two losses this season.According to the official website, the team represents Philadelphia in Major League Baseball as a charter member of its National League division; it has played at Citizens Bank Park since 2004 and serves fans regionally and nationally through games and community outreach.
Looking ahead, the Phillies will begin a three-game series against Boston following their first scheduled off-day under Mattingly. Reflecting on future challenges Marsh said: “The second we leave, today doesn’t matter… But we’ve got to move on to Boston now, and take a series there against a tough team.”
