Penn State announced on Apr. 1 that two of its track and field athletes, Ajani Dwyer and Marie-Eloise LeClair, have earned Big Ten weekly awards. Dwyer was named the men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while LeClair received the same honor for women.

These recognitions highlight strong performances at the start of the outdoor season for both athletes. Such awards are given to athletes who show outstanding results in their events compared to peers across Big Ten schools.

Dwyer began his outdoor campaign with a win in the 100-meter dash at the UCF Knights Invite, finishing with a time of 9.96 seconds. This mark currently stands as the fastest time in the nation this season, surpassing the next best by more than a tenth of a second.

LeClair also started her outdoor season with notable results in Orlando, securing first place finishes in both her events. She won the women’s 100 meters with a time of 11.08 seconds and took first place in the 200 meters at 22.75 seconds. Both times are ranked as national bests through two weeks of competition.

Penn State’s track and field team will compete again this weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville on Friday and Saturday.
