Penn State Nittany Lion Levi Haines won the 2026 Pan American Wrestling Championship at 79 kg with an unbeaten record, according to a May 10 announcement. The championship event took place in Iowa City, Iowa, where Haines competed on Sunday in men’s freestyle.

Haines finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record, winning all his matches by technical superiority. He defeated Mikey Labriola 11-0, Sergio Muniz 10-0, Patrick Leder 13-2 and Jhoan Rodriguez 10-0 to secure the gold medal in his weight class.

The achievement highlights Haines’ performance against top competition from across the Americas. Winning each bout decisively reflects his skill and preparation leading up to this international event.
