Rep. Milou Mackenzie announced on May 21 that the 131st District will receive $443,415 in Local Share Account funding for infrastructure, public safety, and recreation projects across Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The funding aims to support local public safety services, enhance community facilities, and provide municipalities with resources to better serve residents. “These investments will directly strengthen local public safety services, improve community facilities, and ensure municipalities have the tools they need to serve residents effectively,” Mackenzie said.

In Lehigh County, Coopersburg Borough is set to receive $19,882 for a new police vehicle equipped with updated technology and emergency equipment. Lower Milford Township will get $25,224 for renovations at Limeport Stadium including a new baseball safety net system. Upper Milford Township has been awarded $12,720 on behalf of Citizens Fire Company to purchase nozzles and connections for fire truck equipment upgrades.

In Northampton County, Lower Saucon Township will receive the largest grant of $385,589 for constructing and modernizing its Public Works Garage. This project includes adding a second floor as well as facility upgrades to address overcrowding and outdated infrastructure.

The Local Share Account grant program is administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania using gaming revenue from casinos located within or near participating municipalities. The funds are directed toward enhancing public safety services, improving infrastructure such as roads or municipal buildings, and strengthening assets that benefit communities overall.

Mackenzie is a lifelong Lehigh Valley resident who serves on the PennSERVE Community Service Advisory Board; she also contributes to efforts supporting veterans and small business owners according to the official website. She graduated from Nazareth Area Senior High School before earning her bachelor’s degree in English from Cedar Crest College. Mackenzie lives in Lower Saucon Township with her husband—a U.S. Naval Academy graduate—and their family.
