A McKeesport, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer delivered the sentence to Desmond Dontae Lee, aged 47.

Court documents reveal that on March 1, 2023, Lee and his son were among a group gathered outside an apartment at a McKeesport complex. When confronted by the apartment’s resident, one member of the group assaulted him. This led to the resident shooting and killing his attacker. Subsequently, Lee fired five rounds from a 9mm semi-automatic pistol into the apartment before fleeing. Meanwhile, Lee’s son returned fire and killed the resident at the front of the apartment. Although Lee’s firearm was not recovered, shell casings were collected by investigators from Allegheny County Police Department Homicide Unit.

Lee has prior convictions for state drug trafficking and firearms offenses. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson on behalf of the government.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised both the Allegheny County Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Lee successfully.
