The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced on Apr. 17 that attorneys seeking general admission must now follow updated electronic filing procedures.

This change affects how lawyers are admitted to practice before the court, making it necessary to use a specific online process. The update is intended to streamline admissions and ensure all required steps are completed electronically.

According to the announcement, attorneys should consult the Notice, which appears as the first page of the Admission Petition, for detailed instructions on submitting their request electronically. Attorneys must obtain e-filing privileges through PACER for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, complete the Petition form, and file it in connection with their case using designated event codes within ECF (Electronic Case Filing). During this process, attorneys will be prompted to provide credit card information for payment of associated fees.

After submission of the Petition, applicants will receive further information regarding their admission ceremony. The new form with full instructions is available online.

The court said these changes take effect immediately and apply to all future requests for general admission.
