The United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania announced on May 21 the implementation of the Multi-Court Voice Case Information System, also known as McVCIS. This system allows callers to access limited real-time case information at any time using a touch-tone telephone and a nationwide toll-free number.

The new service is intended to make it easier for individuals to obtain case information without visiting the courthouse or accessing online systems. According to the court, callers seeking case details may use McVCIS by dialing 1-866-222-8029.

Additional resources about McVCIS are provided on the court’s website under the “Case Info” tab on the “Free Case Information Service” page. The site offers instructions and a user guide that explains how to navigate the system and perform searches.

Users can search for cases by defendant name, plaintiff name (including both individuals and corporations), or by case number. The system delivers information in both English and Spanish about civil cases—including miscellaneous matters and multidistrict litigation—as well as criminal cases such as those overseen by magistrate judges or involving petty offenses.

For further assistance beyond what McVCIS provides, individuals are encouraged to contact the U.S. District Court Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. Details regarding office locations and hours can be found on the court’s website under “Court Info” on the “Contact Us” page.
