Marquise Maxey, a 39-year-old resident of Haledon, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for distributing fentanyl. The sentencing took place on January 13, 2026, and was issued by Senior United States District Judge Malachy E. Mannion.
United States Attorney Brian D. Miller stated that Maxey pleaded guilty in 2024 to one count of distribution of fentanyl. “As part of his plea, Maxey admitted that he had sold approximately 26 grams of fentanyl to a Confidential Source in exchange for $18,000. This quantity represents over 13,000 potentially fatal dosages of fentanyl.”
The investigation involved several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Pocono Mountain Regional Police, Scranton Police Department, Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, and Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney James M. Buchanan led the prosecution.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, this case is part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing heroin use and distribution within the region. “This case was brought as part of a district wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit heroin related offenses.”
