Penn State Nittany Lions lost to Johns Hopkins in overtime on April 16 at Panzer Stadium during the team’s White Out game, with a final score of 10-9.

The closely contested match saw Penn State, ranked No. 19, fall to No. 6 Johns Hopkins after the Blue Jays scored the decisive goal in overtime. The result brings Penn State’s record to 11-5 overall and 3-4 in Big Ten play, while Johns Hopkins moves to a record of 13-3 and a conference mark of 6-2.

Key performances for Penn State included Payton Wainman and Maggie Rezza each scoring two goals, Delaney Radin and Erika Ho both contributing one goal and two assists, and Rocquette Allen providing three assists. Defensively, Lauren Tinson collected three ground balls with two caused turnovers, while Lizzie Anné added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The game was tightly matched throughout regulation. In the first quarter, Wainman scored twice for Penn State as they took an early lead. The teams traded goals through the second quarter before Penn State edged ahead at halftime. The third quarter saw both teams continue their defensive efforts before MacKinney put Penn State back on top with help from Radin’s assist.

In the fourth quarter, Radin converted a free-position opportunity before MacKinney added another goal for Penn State; however, Johns Hopkins responded with consecutive goals late in regulation to tie the game at nine apiece by the end of regulation time.

In overtime, although Penn State won possession initially, a turnover allowed Johns Hopkins to score what proved to be the winning goal.

Postgame notes indicate that Erika Ho is now just one point away from reaching her career milestone of 100 points; Delaney Radin needs three more assists this season to set a new single-season assist record for Penn State.

Looking ahead, the Nittany Lions will travel on Saturday April 18 for their next matchup against Rutgers.
