Penn College tennis teams sweep Cairn and secure third seed for playoffs

Penn College tennis teams defeated Cairn University in United East Conference matches on April 18, with the men’s team winning 4-3 and the women’s team winning 5-2. Both teams secured the third seed for the upcoming conference playoffs and will host first-round matches next Saturday.

This outcome positions Penn College Wildcats to continue their season with home-court advantage as they enter postseason play. The men’s team now holds a conference record of 5-2 and an overall record of 7-6, while the women’s team stands at 6-3 in conference play and 7-10 overall. In Saturday’s matches, Penn College men won three singles contests through Kyle Shuler (No.1), Matt Williams (No.4), and Avery Hawk (No.5). Doubles victories came from Shuler-Josh Myers at No.1 and Logan Ogden-Williams at No.2 positions. On the women’s side, all five singles points were claimed by Lauren Peck (No.2), Faith Murray (No.3), Leah Vest (No.4), Kiera Wene (No.5), and Cici Miller (No.6). The only doubles win was recorded by Murray-Wene at No.2.

The Wildcats utilize dedicated tennis courts at Central PA Tennis Center in Williamsport, Pennsylvania as part of their athletics facilities according to the official website. They are associated with Pennsylvania College of Technology and participate in NCAA Division III athletics according to the official website. Looking ahead, Penn College is set to host McDaniel College for nonconference matches on Friday afternoon before beginning postseason play next Saturday on their home courts against Lancaster Bible College for men’s first round action; meanwhile, Wildcat women will face either Penn State Berks or Penn State Brandywine following a midweek play-in match.
