Penn College will participate in the NCAA Softball Championship for the third consecutive year, facing Christopher Newport on May 14 in the first round of the Alliance, Ohio Regional Championships hosted by Mount Union.

The event is significant as it marks another opportunity for Penn College to advance in national competition and showcases continued success for its softball program. The regional includes four teams: Penn College (33-7), Christopher Newport (28-11), Mount Union (29-6), and Lebanon Valley (26-15).

According to a statement released on May 11, the first game of the regional will feature Mount Union against Lebanon Valley at 11 a.m., followed by Penn College versus Christopher Newport at 1:30 p.m. The tournament follows a double-elimination format. Winners from Thursday’s games will meet Friday morning, while losing teams play an elimination game later that day. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m., with an additional contest if necessary.

Penn College earned its spot by winning the United East automatic qualifier. Christopher Newport enters with five consecutive NCAA appearances and previously won the national championship in 2022. Mount Union received an at-large bid and is making its fourth straight appearance after competing last season in Salisbury, Maryland. Lebanon Valley returns after defeating Penn College last year during regional play.
