The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team announced its team awards for the 2024-25 season on Apr. 17.
These annual awards recognize players who have shown leadership, commitment, and outstanding performance throughout the season. The honors highlight both individual contributions and the team’s collective achievements.
The senior class received the Sage and Cloud Coach’s Award, which is given to players who set high standards for Penn field hockey through leadership and daily commitment. Livia Loozen was recognized for her work rate and intensity; Amy Lanouette was honored for her dependability in defense; Julia Ryan was noted as a playmaker who delivers in critical moments; and Philine Klas was acknowledged as a commanding anchor and penalty corner threat.
Junior Ruby de Frees earned the Margaretha “Gretta” Ehret Dream Crazy Award for inspiring her teammates with authenticity and leadership. Freshman Jazmin Borensztein received the Gail Lipstein Award as the most outstanding newcomer due to her immediate impact on the program. Junior Honor Roberts won the Diane Angstadt Award as the team’s most inspirational player, while sophomore Maxi Aranowitz was named Most Improved Player for significant growth over the past year.
Senior Julia Ryan also received the Anne Townsend Award as Most Outstanding Player, recognized for offensive excellence that contributed to Penn achieving its highest RPI finish in program history at No. 15. The award is named after Anne Townsend, a former captain of the United States Field Hockey Team who played an important role in establishing women’s athletics at Penn.
