The University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team, ranked 20th nationally, will play a crucial game against Brown on April 18 as they aim to keep their hopes alive for the Ivy League Tournament. The match is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field in Providence, Rhode Island.
This game serves as Penn’s final regular-season contest in the Ivy League. A win would bring their conference record to 3-3 and maintain their chance of qualifying for the four-team tournament. If they lose, Penn would finish at 2-4 and be eliminated from contention since four other teams—Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale—have already reached three league wins this season.
The Quakers have had recent success against Brown, winning five of the last seven meetings between the two programs. Last year, Penn secured a narrow victory over Brown with a score of 9-8. Their last road win at Stevenson-Pincince Field came during the semifinals of the Ivy League Tournament in May 2022.
Penn has faced a challenging schedule this season under new head coach Taylor Wray. The team has played several games against top-ranked opponents including Princeton, Syracuse, Cornell, Georgetown, North Carolina, Harvard and UAlbany. Junior Davis Provost leads Penn with goals (28), points (34), and shots on goal (56), while senior Griffin Scane is second on the team with 22 goals.
Several players have received preseason or midseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Among them are junior Anthony McMullan and senior Griffin Scane. Freshmen Jackson Maher and Quinn Ball were also recognized among top newcomers before the season began.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s matchup against Brown—a series that dates back to 1927—the Quakers hope to continue their strong play on the road as they fight for a postseason berth.
