The Penn State baseball team will travel to Lincoln for a three-game series against No. 19 Nebraska, beginning Friday, April 3 and running through Sunday, April 5. The games will be played at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park and streamed on B1G+.

This matchup is significant as it marks the first regular season meeting between the two teams since 2023. The teams have faced each other in recent Big Ten Tournament matchups, including the championship game in 2024 and semifinals in 2025.

Penn State enters the series with an overall record of 8-18 (3-6 Big Ten), led by head coach Mike Gambino. Last weekend, they took one of three games against Illinois, highlighted by a comeback win where Michael Anderson hit a go-ahead home run after trailing by six runs. Anderson had a standout performance throughout the series, batting .636 with multiple hits in all three games.

Nebraska comes into the series with a strong record of 23-6 overall and an impressive start to conference play at 8-1 under head coach Will Bolt. The Huskers are currently on a seven-game winning streak following victories over Creighton and Indiana.

Anderson leads Penn State offensively this season across several categories including batting average (.356), slugging percentage (.744), home runs (11), RBI (29), and more. He ranks second in the Big Ten for home runs and averages over 400 feet per homerun this year. Bryce Molinaro also reached fifth all-time at Penn State with his career total of homers after last weekend’s performance.

Looking back at recent seasons under Gambino’s leadership, Penn State achieved notable milestones such as recording their second-most wins ever in program history last year with thirty-three victories and making consecutive appearances in the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals for the first time since early last decade.

Additionally, Penn State recently signed Japanese pitcher Genei Sato who is expected to join classes this summer before competing next season; Sato has been recognized as a potential top pick for both Japanese professional leagues and Major League Baseball drafts based on his collegiate performances abroad.

Following this Nebraska series, Penn State returns home to play FDU on Tuesday before heading out again for another conference matchup against Ohio State.
