Penn State ended its 2026 gymnastics season at the Tempe Regional on Apr. 3, placing third with a final team score of 196.200 behind Florida and California. The team’s performance marked its fifth-best total in NCAA Regional competition.
The result is significant as it reflects one of Penn State’s strongest showings this year, particularly on beam and floor events.
Elizabeth Leary achieved a career-best score of 9.900 on beam, while Dani Latronica matched that mark for her seventh routine scoring at least 9.900 this season. Their scores are tied for the second-highest NCAA Regional beam marks in program history.
On floor exercise, Penn State recorded a score of 49.150, marking the team’s eleventh consecutive rotation above the 49-point threshold and tying last year’s University Park Regional tally for tenth-best in school history at an NCAA Regional meet. Alyssa Kramer led with a 9.875 anchor performance, followed by Leary, Kalea McElligott and Jessica Johanson each scoring a 9.825.
In vault competition, senior Ava Piedrahita posted a team-leading score of 9.850 as Penn State surpassed the 49-point mark on vault for the eighth time this year.
On uneven bars, freshman Ava Cash led with a score of 9.825 in her first NCAA Regional appearance alongside Leary’s matching mark; however, it was only the second time all season that Penn State scored below a team total of 49 points on bars.
Beam was another highlight as both Leary and Latronica earned top scores of the night for Penn State with their pair of 9.900s—tying marks previously set by Amani Herring during the program’s recent seasons.
The Nittany Lions’ overall showing capped off their campaign with several notable individual performances and historic team scores.
