Penn State men’s gymnastics named Eliran Ioscovich and Shaun Smith to the 2026 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics All-Freshman Team, according to an April 8 announcement. The pair join two Nebraska Cornhuskers to complete this year’s list of honorees.
Smith, who was also recognized as the Big Ten’s 2026 Freshman of the Year, received the conference’s Freshman of the Week honor twice during the season. He is ranked 28th nationally on floor with a four-score average of 13.350 and holds a national ranking of 14th on vault with a four-score average of 14.100 and a season-best score of 14.200 in that event. At the recent Big Ten Championships, Smith qualified for individual finals on vault and finished fourth after posting a score of 13.975.
Ioscovich has mainly competed as a specialist on parallel bars throughout his first year at Penn State. His season-high score is 13.800, achieved at the West Point Open in January, and his four-score average stands at 13.138, placing him at No. 25 nationally.
The recognition highlights both athletes’ contributions during their freshman campaigns as Penn State prepares for postseason competition.
Looking ahead, Penn State will have a week off before traveling to Champaign, Illinois for the NCAA Championships starting Friday, April 17. The top three teams from each regional meet along with select individual qualifiers will advance to compete on Saturday, April 18.
