Penn State men’s lacrosse will face No. 16 Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field in Baltimore on Saturday, April 4, aiming to secure its first-ever win at the historic venue. The Nittany Lions have not recorded a victory at Homewood in the series’ 110-year history.

A win would put Penn State in a strong position within the conference title race as both teams enter their third conference matchup of the season. The game is set to be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Johns Hopkins enters ranked No. 16 nationally and leads the Big Ten in turnovers per game, averaging just over 13 per contest. Senior Brooks English has contributed significantly with an average of 1.67 assists per game, while junior Hunter Chauvette tops the Big Ten in goals per game with nearly three each outing. The Blue Jays also boast a high clearing percentage and solid goalkeeping from senior Oran Gelinas.

The last meeting between these teams saw Penn State clinch a spot in the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals with a narrow home victory, marking their eleventh ten-win season and sixth under head coach Jeff Tambroni. Key performances included sophomore Kyle Lehman’s four goals and one assist, as well as defensive efforts from Alex Ross and Kevin Parnham.

This season, seniors Alex Ross and Jon King have earned midseason All-American honors alongside sophomore Reid Gills for their defensive contributions. Freshman Jack Iannantuono has been recognized among Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings for his consistent offensive output since earning a starting role due to teammate injuries.

Looking ahead, Ross is projected as a top pick for defensemen or poles in upcoming Premier Lacrosse League drafts following recent injuries elsewhere across collegiate lacrosse rosters. As Penn State continues its campaign with an undefeated start to conference play after defeating Ohio State last week, attention remains focused on breaking new ground this weekend against Johns Hopkins.
