The Penn State men’s tennis team will host No. 69 Northwestern on Friday, March 27, at 5 p.m., and No. 14 Illinois on Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m., according to a statement released on Mar. 26.
These matches are significant for the Nittany Lions as they continue their spring season campaign with a current record of 13-7. The team is coming off a split weekend in Indiana where they defeated Purdue with a score of 6-1 before falling to Indiana, 4-1. Freshman Kyle Chesman contributed singles points in both matches.
Northwestern enters the match with a season record of 13-8 and holds an all-time advantage over Penn State, leading the series with a record of 27 wins to eight losses. Last season, Northwestern won against Penn State by a score of 4-1.
Illinois is currently ranked No.14 nationally and has achieved a season record of 15-4 so far. The Illini have dominated their historical matchups against Penn State with an all-time record of 38 wins and five losses; last year they won the meeting between the teams by four sets to none.
After this weekend’s home games, Penn State will travel west for upcoming matches against No.24 USC on April 3 and No.20 UCLA on April 4.
