Penn State reported on April 24 that its track and field teams achieved several notable results during the second day of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

The event was marked by a program record in the women’s sprint medley relay. Addyson White, Alexandria North, Marie-Eloise LeClair, and Hayley Kitching ran a combined time of 3:42.35, surpassing the previous school best set in 2024 by more than two seconds.

In addition to the women’s relay achievement, Penn State’s men’s 4×400-meter relay team—composed of Carter Fitzgerald, Peyton Sommers, Matt DeMatteo, and Jake Palermo—qualified for Saturday’s championship race with a time of 3:05.39. This performance ranks as the tenth-fastest mark in program history.

Other individual performances included senior Sam Engebretson finishing fifth in the men’s discus with a throw of 168-6.00 (51.37 meters). In the men’s pole vault college event, Mason Bucks tied for fifth place at a height of 15-11.75 (4.87 meters), while Breckin Swope cleared 15-5.75 (4.72 meters).

The final day of competition will see more Nittany Lions participate across various events beginning at 11:30 a.m., including the men’s high jump and pole vault championships as well as another run from the men’s 4×400-meter team scheduled for mid-afternoon.

Updates about weather conditions and start times will be shared through Penn State track and field social media accounts.
