Penn State track and field athletes received First-Team All-Big Ten honors in the men’s and women’s 800-meter runs during the final day of the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, according to a May 17 announcement from the university.
The recognition highlights strong performances by Penn State’s runners. The achievements matter as they reflect both individual excellence and team contributions to overall standings in a competitive collegiate environment.
Allon Clay won the men’s 800-meter run with a time of 1:46.58, earning gold and First-Team All-Big Ten status. Clay’s season has included top finishes, including second place at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Niko Schultz placed third and Andrew Regnier finished eighth in the same event, contributing to Penn State’s eighth-place finish for men with a total of 46.5 points.
Hayley Kitching took first place in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.77, marking her second win this season after also winning at the indoor championships. Freshman Trip Campbell tied for third in men’s high jump with a mark of 6-11.50 (2.12m), while Robert Allen finished ninth.
Other notable results included Lizzie Schreiber clearing over forty feet in women’s triple jump, Tristan McGarrah reaching 16-7.50 (5.07m) in men’s pole vault, and Dylan Lambrecht placing ninth among three Penn State competitors who ranked within the top fifteen for men’s shot put.
On track events, Nick Sloff scored four points by finishing fifth in the men’s 1500-meter run; Ajani Dwyer and Marie-Eloise LeClair each earned fifth place finishes in their respective 100-meter dashes; LeClair also placed seventh in women’s 200 meters.
The meet concluded with Carter Fitzgerald, Matt DeMatteo, Niko Schultz, and Jake Palermo running sixth place for Penn State’s men’s relay team. The women’s team finished eleventh overall with twenty-five points.
Looking ahead, Penn State will continue its outdoor campaign at NCAA Championships’ first round starting May 27 through May 30 in Lexington, Kentucky.
