Penn State track and field athletes recorded several top performances as the team competed on March 28 in both the Raleigh Relays and the Knights Invite.

The competitions saw Penn State athletes achieve high placements, personal bests, and new entries into the program’s record books. The split-squad approach allowed for a wide range of events to be covered by both men’s and women’s teams.

At the Knights Invite in Orlando, Marie-Éloïse LeClair won the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 22.75 seconds, marking the second-fastest performance in school history. Alexandria North also placed among the top twenty in that event. In field events, Sasha Garnett finished fourth in women’s shot put with a throw that ranks ninth all-time for Penn State, while Skye Petrie-Cameron secured fifth place. Jake Palermo ran a 20.97-second men’s 200-meter dash to enter tenth on Penn State’s all-time list.

Other notable finishes at the Knights Invite included Audrey Friedman taking third place in women’s javelin and Nolan Carey achieving second place—and a personal record—in men’s javelin. Collin Burkhart won the men’s hammer throw with another personal best, while Alex Pancoast led three Nittany Lions who finished among the top seven in women’s hammer throw.

In running events at Raleigh Relays, Charlotte Costich (32:57.53) and Claire Daniels (33:18.60) posted times good enough for third- and fifth-best ever at Penn State in the women’s 10,000 meters. Sarah Pickering placed twenty-sixth out of more than two hundred runners in her heat of the women’s 1,500 meters.

Looking ahead, Penn State will conclude its weekend competition with additional events scheduled for Saturday at both meets.
