Penn State women’s basketball head coach Tanisha Wright announced on Apr. 21 the signing of four-star guard Kamrah Banks as the first addition to the program’s 2026-27 roster.
Banks, a point guard from Indianapolis, Indiana, joins Penn State after a successful high school career at Crispus Attucks. She is recognized as a top recruit and becomes the first player to commit to Wright’s incoming class.
“Our staff and I are thrilled to welcome Kamrah and her family to Happy Valley to join the Lady Lion family,” Wright said. “Kamrah is a proven leader and has the ability to create for herself and others. She is the first athlete to believe in the direction that Penn State women’s basketball is headed and we are excited to get to work.”
During her time at Crispus Attucks, Banks became the school’s all-time leading scorer and set a new single-game scoring record with 63 points, surpassing NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson’s previous mark on the boys’ side. This achievement ranks fourth in Indiana state history for most points scored in a single game.
In her final high school season, Banks averaged 20.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game while leading her team in scoring categories. She was named MCCGSA All-City first team twice and was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American for 2026. Additionally, she was ranked as Indiana’s number one combo guard with a top-100 national ranking.
Banks also played four years with Nike EYBL and one year with Adidas’ 3SSB circuit, gaining experience against elite competition nationwide.
