Penn State finished eighth in the 16-team field at the second-annual Terps Invitational, according to an announcement on April 6. Sophomore Hannah Rabb led the Nittany Lions, tying for sixth place among 90 players.
Rabb recorded rounds of 71, 76, and another 71 to end with a score of two-over-par (218), marking her best finish as a Nittany Lion and her second top-10 placement this season. It is also the sixth top-10 finish of her career.
The team posted its best round on Monday with a combined score of ten-over-par (298) and completed the tournament at thirty-seven-over-par (901). Virginia won the championship with a four-under-par total, finishing two strokes ahead of Kentucky. Maryland, High Point, and Wisconsin rounded out the top five teams.
Sophomore Lauren Thompstone competed as an individual and achieved her best career result by placing thirteenth at four-over-par (220), highlighted by a final-round score of one-under-par (71). Freshman Audrey Lam tied for twenty-eighth after shooting nine-over-par (225), while freshmen Mara King and Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun improved their standings in the final round to tie for forty-third and sixty-third respectively. Freshman Lillian Guleserian concluded play at twenty-three-over-par for the tournament.
The Nittany Lions will have several weeks off before competing in the B1G Championships scheduled for April 24-26 at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California.
